(Poecilia Velifera)

Picture
The yucatan molly, also known as the sailfin mollie is one of the larger species of livebearing fish. It comes in a variety of colours from yellow to red and black but all have the characteristic sail like dorsal fin. This species can be kept in both fresh and brackish water so always check with the shop what sort of enviroment they are being kept in. They should be kept in groups with more females than males and they may regularly give birth to broods of over 100 fry. They do get a lot bigger than most other livebearers though so keep thgem in fairly large tanks.
