Pearl Gourami

(Trichogaster Leerii)

Picture
The pearl gourami is one of the larger species of gourami and is more suited to a large community aquarium with other similar sized fish. They have silver bodys with pearl like spots on it - hence the name. Their anal fins may also have red edging on them. They should be kept in an aquarium with plenty of swimming space with some plants to hide in. THey shouldn't be kept with other gouramis or fin nipping barbs. The male may build a bubble nest and the female may lay 1000 eggs in one spawning.
